I have always been drawn to expressing myself through an artistic medium, whether it is with drawing, printmaking or photography. My images are not portraits, but narratives of my inner self. In searching for my life’s purpose, my work documents the exploration of my own identity. By combining figures with backgrounds, costumes and props, I create works that are spiritual and allegorical. Seeking insight into who I will eventually become, I look for resolutions to unanswerable questions. /Polly Chandler
Superb work, full of emotions that grabs me!
ReplyDeleteFantastic portraits...among the best ever. Thanks for showing!
ReplyDeletePolaroids are already taking on a classic look. You've worked well with the medium, Ms. Chandler.
ReplyDeleteI discovered her work more or less one year ago, being featured on Black and White Photography magazine and soon fell in love.
ReplyDeleteWhat beauty! I love the blurriness

I am fascinated by the way forms and structures interact with the people in your photos. The geometry is so powerful and still you find a place to rest in the frames. Superb work. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteIt's so good to see your work here, Polly -- I've been an admirer since I first saw it years ago, and it's so nice to have a reminder that I must go look at it again!

Wonderful series. I love what you said about your work being 'resolutions to unanswerable questions.' To me that is exactly what art should be!
