History: Last year, the members of Agitera Image Group were asked to carry Malmöplanket on. Then, Jonna at Format called, and a collaboration seemed only natural This year, the location of Malmöplanket has moved to Folkets Park. Saturday, August 29, the photo exhibit Malmöplanket kicks off its second year. The purpose of the exhibit is to get images from an array of different branches of photography into public space. The fence is a place for meetings, not only between photographers, but also between photographers and the public; an office party open to the public, if you will. About
Agitera: The idea of an image group came about sometime around the beginning of the new millennium and was realized in the fall of 2003 when an official organization was formed at our first meeting, at Ölcafeét in Malmoe. Our first project, the exhibit Bilder från Bitola- Macedonija (Images from Bitola, Macedonia), brought several communities together. Young and old, Swedes and immigrants; together they contemplated another reality. They shared grief, anger, tears, and laughter. This other reality, the contrast our images constitute in relation to peoples’ lived realities, is important to us. The success of our previous exhibits shows that the images are not only important to us, but also to many others. Over the years, Agitera has produced multiple exhibits, both traditional and of the “fence type”. It is important to us to show the image outside of conventional exhibition locales. To make the image accessible to those who might not go out of their way to see an exhibit. In essence, taking the image to the people. We have formed collaborations with organizations, institutions and businesses; the Nordic Council of Ministers, Kulturen Museum in Lund, LaLoge Gallery in Paris, Aluma Magazine, and Lexter Sound Productions, to name a few.
Agitera is currently going through an expansionary phase and looking to recruit interesting photographers to the image group. Our goal is to grow slowly, and our rule is to only accept two new members every fiscal year. "

People, Events, Changes.
People, events, changes. 20 years of photography in Gazeta Wyborcza exhibition is just about to close. sorry for the delay in informing, but was rather busy with it... [It was on 8th May 1989 that appeared the first edition of Gazeta Wyborcza Solidarności, or in English The Solidarity Election Newspaper. In the first edition were to be found only two photographs. ]
The exhibition People, Events, Changes is a multi-theme narrative of the last 20 years composed through the photos of the reporters of Gazeta Wyborcza. We present photos from all over the world: photo journalism, news photography, portraits, and sport and fashion photos.
20 years is 7305 days and over 6 thousand editions of Gazeta Wyborcza. Over this period, almost everything has changed. We have striven here to evoke the most significant events, to recall the people and places of our collective memory. The exhibition has been divided into two main sections: Poland and The World.
Over the last 20 years, there have also been profound changes in the technology of photography.
The beginning of the 90s is a time when a photographer might still use a roll of film on a given event. From this point on, photographic equipment has improved enormously, thus widening the potential for access to an event, and making excellent quality of scanned and printed images the norm. From 2007 on, we can observe the unquestioned domination of digital photography. This exhibition recounts the most recent history of photography and encourages reflection on the contemporary condition of the photo-reporter.

Jacek Kuroń with his wife just after announcement of the initial results, 1991. photo Piotr Wójcik/Agencja GazetaThe exhibition ignores chronology and rejects the traditional exposition mode. Thus it's an anniversary exhibition, it displays the art of photography. Curators focus on what is shared by both the authors and readers: the experience of freedom. This is what we are to rediscover and rethink. The exhibition have many heroes. Among them the greatest Poles: Jerzy Giedroyc, Wislawa Szymborska, Andrzej Wajda. Side by side, there are clerks, teachers, farmers, feminists, Roms, the unemployed, and anonymous passers-by. Our exhibition features its heroes. The main one is the change, stressed by the two-decade-old photographs, which contrast with the contemporary images. The change is recorded also by the amateurs, who post on photoblogs their pictures, although not ideal at times yet honest and immediate. Such works are also exhibited here. Professionals are taken away their exclusive right to take pictures. Today everyone takes pictures on any topic. For that reason, professional photographers pose questions concerning the social meaning of photo-journalism. Some reject the old, seemingly ideal forms for spontaneous creativity. Others return to the roots. Intense collective emotions are another hero of the exhibition: the events connected with politics, economy, religion, and sport and daily lives. The Polish reality, including politics, measures up with the European norms. Many pictures are devoid of the Polish specificity. The transformation was finally a great sucess. But still there is Poland that haven’t changed, and poverty looks quite simmilar from 1989 and 2009.
Against this background, the 1989-1990 revolutions in Central and East Europe seem to have been a miracle.

Planketgbg 2009

Our friends at planketgbg sent us a mail:
200 meters of fence. 200 photographers. On August 15th, taking place at Majvallen in Gothenburg, the public photo exhibit planketgbg returns.- The point of the exhibit is to get the image into public space, with a mix of all types of photography: commercial, art, press, and amateur, says Edith Camilla Svensson, one of the founders.Last year’s event proved a success. The two hundred meter long fence was filled with everything from beautiful nature shots and exposés to a private photo taken by an unknown photographer in war torn Yugoslavia. The youngest exhibitor was only seven years old.The idea of planketgbg is to give each photographer free rein over a meter of fence space: A single big image or perhaps several small ones, in whichever formats or shapes one so pleases. And anyone is welcome to show their work.Explains the other founder, Mette Muhli:- The fence is a way of meeting across genres and age groups. Regardless of previous experience, whether you happen to be a member of a club or a professional photographer, you can show your images here.Behind the exhibit, just as last year, are the two photographers Mette Muhli, 2008’s Swedish-Finnish artist of the year, and Edith Camilla Svensson, chairwoman of Agitera Image Group. The fence first came to Sweden in 1982 when it was erected in Stockholm, an initiative by photographer Neil Goldstein. But after a few years it died out.Following years of lethargy, new fences are now springing up throughout the country. Malmö, Stockholm, Varberg, are a few examples; and, since last year, Gothenburg.- We want to make it into an annual tradition. It should be an opportunity for photographers to meet in a creative environment, Edith Camilla explains.Planketgbg runs between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM on the 15th of August. The fence is about 200 meters long, which means that there is space for about 200 photographers. The location is close to Slottsskogen in Majorna, running along Hålekärrsgatan. This year, a sign-up fee has been introduced, and a catalog will be made in conjunction with the exhibition, featuring an image from each participant.

about sports
all in opposite directions.
Tried to gain that extra piece of ground...
If I had to choose only one sport to symbolize this world
It would be the tug-of-war.
If I had to choose only one sport to symbolize love.
It would be the same.

Photographing each other
Plastic boy and real girlIn my work I often take interest in the relations between memory, photography and autobiography and how those subjects interfere with each other and their balance between fiction and reality. Photography is to me a way of telling and constructing more or less autobiographical stories. I present these stories as photograpchic series that deals with the borders between the documentary and the staged, the real and the unreal and the past and the present. This series is titled The looking glass photos. In this work I have been inspired by the photographs in an old family photo album and followed the assocations they gave me.

At Galeria Art-Studio

This is the Gallery owner, Leszek Slabicki and his wife. They were so incredibly kind and gracious to me when I was in Gliwice. In the middle there, augmenting the fantastic view out the gallery window is our very own Marcin. Kind and gracious doesn't even begin to describe how well he and his family treated me!
More to come -- I'm limiting myself to developing 2 rolls a day.
