La Grotta

This is the Serracozzo cave, it is situated on Etna, north flank, at 1900 metres of elevation.
It was formed by the 1971 eruption. The ceiling of the portion showed is about 6 metres high.

Boys are us - coming exhibition by Maria Friberg

Boys are us is a major exhibition of photography and video created by Maria Friberg during 1998-2008. Opening on 26 January this exhibition will be on show until 13 April in Kulturhuset, Stockholm. Maria Fribergs work deals with masculinity, the myth of power and human relations.

Saint Barbara Day

4th December is an annual celebration day for miners in Poland. It is the Saint Barbara Day. She is the miners patron. The biggest attention to Saint Barbara is given in Silesia, where plenty of coal mines are located. During the celebration day miners thank their patron for another safe year without danger accidents and also pray for another lucky year. The prayers are done in the morning at the chapel in Mines or in the Church in the neighborhood during the morning mass. Ordinary day for coal miners in the Silesia looks quiet different, their work is hard and dangerous. Every year couple of them die in accidents underneath the ground. Ludruk Surabaya
Ludruk Surabaya depicts a night time show in a travesty theatre in Java, Indonesia. The Ludruk are marginal and precarious places that are nowadays disappearing from the Javanese culture. Despite their poverty character, these theatres allow the artists to live their homosexuality and celebrate their taboo difference through "improvised scenes" of the daily life, where theatre, dance and song blend, where traditional and contemporary clothes are mixed, where male and female roles appear.























Emilie Hallard is a photographer from France now living in Barcelona. She is very talented - the pictures from Java are tight, strong in expression and she present us to a world unknown to most people. In this, she is not simply a cold observer, but a photographer with the essential human perspective. /ulf fågelhammar

John Dittrich

just today I learnt that friend and inspiration of many of us, John Ditrrich passed away November 23rd. Sensible person, poet of analogue photography, always experimenting with techniques, optical effects, colours and forms. Silent friend, who's presence I always felt, although we never met personally.

We will not see new works of John, but, I believe we will hear of His art.

I salute you John, I will miss you.

Roulette - in black and white

"The first form of roulette was devised in 18th century France. The roulette wheel is believed to be a fusion of the English wheel games Roly-Poly, Ace of Hearts, and E&O, and the Italian board games of Hoca and Biribi, and then the name roulette from an already existing French board game of that title. The game has been played in its current form since as early as 1796 in Paris."
