A forest
Come closer and see
See into the trees
Find the girl
If you can
Come closer and see
See into the dark
Just follow your eyes
I hear her voice
Calling my name
The sound is deep
In the dark
I hear her voice
And start to run
Into the trees
Suddenly I stop
But I know it's too late
I'm lost in a forest
All alone
The girl was never there
It's always the same
I'm running towards nothing
Again and again and again and again

"The last ten years I have been working as a freelance photojournalist based in Los Angeles. Los Angeles Times was my starting place and today I work for newspapers and news magazines from around the world. I photographed on a project for Klimahaus Museum in Bremerhaven, Germany, and I look forward to its opening in March 2009. Between paying work I do personal projects. My most recent one was a multimedia project on the dowry system in India.
I choose photographs that show some of the things that I love to photograph; political events and people from different cultures." - Ann Johansson
It is a pleasure to meet Ann in her pictures from various parts of the world. Whether from the Mexican-US border, Palestine or India her presence is strong and brave. Ann's pictures have been published in Time Magazine, New York Times, Le Monde, Sydney Morning Herald among others. She was born in Gothenburg, Sweden and is now living in Los Angeles, California. invited photographer: Thobias Fäldt
Thobias Fäldt is an interesting Swedish contemporary photographer. He has won Scanpix big photoaward and soon Steidl will release his photobook Year One. About his work Steidl wrote: "Thobias Fäldt collects photographs and compiles them, like notes in a diary, into stories and narratives. It is never clear whether they are his own images and experiences or simple collations of found imaginery. Together they culminate in a one fictional year of a life, Year One"
I discovered his photographs some months ago, thru his homepage, and find his work fascinating. Therefore I am happy to present Thobias on the F blog, with a serie from the forthcoming book Year One. Photos © Thobias Fäldt. Stay tuned to the F blog for more info about Year One. And please check out Thobias homepage.

Doggerland
"Doggerland is the former landmass in the southern North Sea which connected the island of Great Britain to mainland Europe during the last ice age. Geological surveys have suggested that Doggerland was a large dry land area that stretched from Britain's east coast across to the present coast of the Netherlands and the western coasts of Germany and Denmark. The land was likely a rich habitat with human habitation in the Mesolithic period. Commercial trawlers in the North Sea have dragged up mammoth and lion remains, among other remains of land animals.
Doggerland is a land that is lost to us, but still exists buried and hidden. In this essay I try to find my own doggerland, buried and hidden but still there, at least to me."
