Planket

From 1982-1994 "Planket" was a major event, where Swedish photographers
showed their work. And Planket is back! On June 30
people came from all
around to enjoy some great pictures by 80 photographers.
The exhibition was
according to the tradition held in
Vitabergsparken, Stockholm.

On a 70 meter long
wall each photographer was provided with a fixed space
to hang their work. As you can see from the pictures by Mikael and Ulla it
was raining (Swedish summer) but
people who where there reported that
they had a really good time.

The F Blog is happy to receive the news about the revival of Planket. Some
of the
participating photographers have been guests on our site like
Micke Berg, Gunnar
Smoliansky, Lars Tunbjörk, Gerry Johansson,
Sanna Sjöswärd, Paul Hansen, Bengt Björkbom and JH Engström.

See our list of all invited guests.

Planket Gbg

Two friends of mine are putting together an outdoor exhibition this summer where everyone is invited. I asked them to send me some information in case some of you out there are interested in participating, and here it is. I'll be there for sure and I think Markus Jenemark will as well if I'm not misinformed, right Markus?

"For the first time the outdoor exhibition planketgbg is arranged in Gothenburg on the initiative of the photographers Mette Muhli and Edith Camilla Svensson.

The exhibition Planket (the fence) started in Stockholm 1982 on the initiative of Neil Goldstein that had seen similar exhibitions in New York.

Our idea is to bring the photography out from the walls of the institutions, from the photographers hard drives and photo boxes in the wardrobe and lift it out to the public room and make the pictures available for everyone.

The concept is simple: each photographer that participates gets one meter of the fence and they are free to use it however they like. Art or documentary, framed or unframed, each photographer decides the shape for their part of planketgbg.

Planketgbg takes place Saturday 9th of august 2008 from 12 pm – 17 pm. The fence where the exhibition takes place surrounds Majvallen which lies on the street Hålekärrsgatan next to Slottskogen in the neighborhood of Majorna in Gothenburg. Tram 11, tramstop Majvallen.

To participate in the exhibition planketgbg you just need to send an email to planketgbg@gmail.com. Last day to register is 11th of July. There will be space for about 200 photographers.

We are looking forward to a wide and inspiring exhibition!

Very welcome!"

invited photographer: Anna Edlund

In July, at the exhibition Planket ("the fence") in Gothenburg, especially one serie of photographs got my attention - Anna Edlund's "Här går vi" ("Here we go"). Now I am very happy to introduce Anna Edlund as an invited photographer at the F blog!

Here we go
Here are nine pictures from a series of sixteen. These sixteen are all pedestrian symbols on the pavement of a street in Gothenburg, Herkulesgatan.
With a simple technique (taken with a Holga 120n) and with multiple images I want to show a pattern that for me is a lot about communication. Communication between the viewer and the pictures, the "doodling" artist and us, the man and the child. What do we see in the symbol?
This is the street where we walk.
I want to put some light on the public space and our inner space. Spaces where we spend time but might not stop and reflect about where we are, what we see and where we walk and where we are going.

The Malmoe Fence

the fence in Malmoe

The fence-exhibitions are getting very popular in Sweden these days. This time it's the Image group Agitera who's arranging an exhibition in Malmoe. They sent us the following information:
(PS. make sure to read the last part if you like the work of Agitera)

"Press release
Re: The Malmoe Fence

When: August 29, 2009

Where: Folkets Park, Malmoe

Who: 140 photographers (first come, first serve)

Organizers: Agitera – Image Group in collaboration with Galleri Format
Website: http://planket2009.blogspot.com
Sign up: planket@agitera.com

History: Last year, the members of Agitera Image Group were asked to carry Malmöplanket on. Then, Jonna at Format called, and a collaboration seemed only natural This year, the location of Malmöplanket has moved to Folkets Park.
Saturday, August 29, the photo exhibit Malmöplanket kicks off its second year. The purpose of the exhibit is to get images from an array of different branches of photography into public space. The fence is a place for meetings, not only between photographers, but also between photographers and the public; an office party open to the public, if you will. About

Agitera: The idea of an image group came about sometime around the beginning of the new millennium and was realized in the fall of 2003 when an official organization was formed at our first meeting, at Ölcafeét in Malmoe.
Our first project, the exhibit Bilder från Bitola- Macedonija (Images from Bitola, Macedonia), brought several communities together. Young and old, Swedes and immigrants; together they contemplated another reality. They shared grief, anger, tears, and laughter. This other reality, the contrast our images constitute in relation to peoples’ lived realities, is important to us. The success of our previous exhibits shows that the images are not only important to us, but also to many others. Over the years, Agitera has produced multiple exhibits, both traditional and of the “fence type”. It is important to us to show the image outside of conventional exhibition locales. To make the image accessible to those who might not go out of their way to see an exhibit. In essence, taking the image to the people. We have formed collaborations with organizations, institutions and businesses; the Nordic Council of Ministers, Kulturen Museum in Lund, LaLoge Gallery in Paris, Aluma Magazine, and Lexter Sound Productions, to name a few.

Agitera is currently going through an expansionary phase and looking to recruit interesting photographers to the image group. Our goal is to grow slowly, and our rule is to only accept two new members every fiscal year.
