This is the final test of the very rare Ülmercott Dr.t2 lens. You see the stairs leading down and a shady part of the wall in this picture taken with the good old ülmer. If I blow up the picture there will be some street art visible.

Time for a new mini project? Yees! This is a hairy one. We want pictures related to "hair"; long hair, pink hair, barber shop interiors, signs, hair brushes, hair styles, beards, hairy legs, people with no hair...well you name it. As always we rely on your imagination, dear reader of the F Blog.
Please send your contributions to the gruppo F inbox address or to any of the editors (Marcin, Ulf).
Just a reminder: the featured mini projects "Music" and "Kitchen" are still on. Don´t hesitate to send a picture on these subjects. The former mini projects "Street corners", "Café" and "Kiosks" are displayed as labels, and of course you are welcome to contribute with pictures on these subjects as well.
Three projects will be featured all of 2008: Face to face, Trees and DOCU-08. We hope to be able to make an online exhibition (or even a real life exhibition) with photos from these projects in the beginning of 2009.

I am testing the very rare Ülmercott DR.t2 lens. More pictures will come. I will also publish some huge enlargements of the dark parts of the picture just to show you how this quality lens manage to find details that nobody knew was there (and nobody cared about). Part of progress has always been to forget about the past.
The archeology of a mere 50 years seems fascinating, not because of its monetary value, but because it makes a statement about how quickly we move on and how disposable everything is. Our need for more never has mercy for what is or what was. We tar over and nail shut everything that we see fit to. We rarely have reverence for those things that do not glitter and shine with the brilliance of aluminum. The old brick and wood, the intricate and ornate architecture of a century ago, and the artistic uniqueness of something hand-built has given way to those bulldozers with too little time to bother.
As I travel across the West, I feel compelled to make as many stops along these forgotten places as possible. I'm inclined to document them, to somehow preserve even the smallest idea of what they were, before they disappear completely. I think of talking to my children who have not been born yet, and expressing something ineffable to them; a texture, a smell, or a feeling of nostalgia.

some time ago we've been talking about masters, about launching another project. since then we've nice and interesting projects and the masters went away. but it suddently came to me yesterday while being face-to-face with Mr Boltanski, who defenitely is one of my masters.

A slum called Calvario shows everydays effort made to survive in a ghetto. 
Collecting rubbish, get high by sniffing glue and watch out for not to get shot dead by El Sheriff, who is „Mano Negra“ (The Black Hand), an illegal authority who has control over the ghetto. 
Theft, drug abuse, being out of work never let these people jump off the ghetto misery and stop being a second category citizen in the rigid catholic society of Colombia. 
Jan Sochor was born in the Czech Republic. He is changing his base between South America and Europe frequently, he lived and worked in Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Spain, the Czech Republic in the last five years. America has become a major theme for him since then. He focuses on showing and documenting the (Latin) American continent, the everyday life, social and cultural issues mostly. His photographs and stories have appeared in numerous Czech magazines, newspapers and publications, including Reflex, National Geographic CZ, Instinkt, Hospodarske noviny. In 2006 he participated in the Czech Press Photo group exhibition.
