DOCU 08: arts & dogs
dogs are welcome in galleries of art. mainly in these galleries of modern art. there is a huge difference wheather the dog is owned by an artist, a curator or a common visitor. anyway - these are very good educated creatures :)

Captured
This weekend The Police Museum in Stockholm opened an exhibition of photographs depicting people who had committed crimes. The photo above was registered at the police in 1895 and portrays Carl Wilhelm Strand ( aka "Piggen"). He was then 18 years old and the card says that he had been
arrested for theft. The exhibition will be on until 20 July. See also our story about the Sydney Police Mugshots.

That Art picked up a camera and began to take photos couldn’t have been foreseen, as he earned a degree in philosophy, not art. His images are so original and unexpected that I am reminded of Andre Breton’s phrase, “Beauty will be convulsive or will not be at all.”
Art's mind and his eyes collaborate to create works that are nothing less than astonishing. His mind's eye becomes existentially present in the moment of the release of the shutter.
The works presented here are some of his first photos. I was drawn to them for their textures, whether smooth and sensuous or rough and abject. Art doesn't avoid difficult compositional situations; in fact, he uses those situations to his visual advantage.
The abstraction in his photos subverts the usual way of arriving at a deep emotional experience. Art doesn't present cliches or symbols of emotion, but through the properties of the photograph, allows the viewer to find their own response to the image.
As a viewer, I find surfaces that almost have no illusion of depth…one's eyes must move across the surface and find what is there, like reading a page of text.
Other images are tough, abject markings/traces of written negations.
Art is touching the world.
Art's statement: A true communication sometimes appears to be one sentence, which is much more than thousands of billions of images. You shall not wait for a decisive moment; it is in your every breath.

F of F
The F blog was launched in September 2006. It has been a highly appreciated meeting place where readers find that photography is the sole and obvious focus of attention, in the photographs presented, the articles published and the guests invited. It is a blog about photography, with photographs, by photographers.
The F blog is a place where the unexpected constantly happens. We, the editors, are working independently of each other assure our readers that things are moving – and not just in one direction. This is crucial for our ultimate goal, to make our readers see what they do not notice.
Since 2006 the F blog have generated more than 2500 posts. Several hundred interesting photographers from 37 different countries have been invited. Live exhibitions have been made. Projects such as DOCU 08, Trees and the un-project have been launched and the Gruppo F inbox is almost filled…
Now it is time for F of F, when we, the editors, choose some of our personal favorites from the F blog archives. Enjoy it (and if you don't, search the F blog for other photographs….).

F project: Lost i translation
There are many ways to find inspiration, aren´t there? For example there is the cute Google Translation Robot(we must find a name for her - or is it a him?). Well anyway, I tried her on The F Blog site translating from English to Swedish - pure poetry. A new universe opening up. English to Spanish is not too bad either. The point, dear multilingual reader of the F Blog, is that you can try many languages in this innovate Gurgle feature. You will find very interesting and completely unpredictable translations. And words become pictures. Pictures become words. Words and...
