invited guest: Staszek Heyda

I am honoured to show on F blog Staszek Heyda - one of most promissing young photographers in Poland.
Staszek is very modest and didn't allow me to tell much more that what he wrote below:

[born 1983] Student of Creative Photography Institute in Opava (Czech Republic) - 3rd year. His been taking pictures for 6 years. Works and lives in Gliwice (Poland)

Staszek agreed to show his very personal, touching series:

"So Close"

My family is the main subject of my pictures. At the center there is my grandfather, accompanied by us in his good and bad days of senility. My mother, with the help from he rest of household members, looked after him. We had witnessed how this slowly dying man started to dominate the life of out house. We tried to make possible to our grandfather to die with dignity, among relatives. I witnessed it with my camera. I tried to get with my camera as close as possible to these important moments, which became a document from my family life. My grandfather died on January 24th, 2006 at 91.

Art of the photogravure

Browsing this site I found many photos from Camera Work. It´s indeed
worth a visit.
From the "About" section I quote:
"This website celebrates the beauty and history of the photogravure process
and the important role it has played in shaping the history of photography."

A Tarkini Doktrina?

If anybody can translate this text about Tarkini, please
don´t hesitate to help us solve the Tarkini case.
I think it is Hungarian and that it speaks about Star Wars?

Ulf... I find two legs walkin about in the pictures interesting too

post-Dr T-syndrome...

One can sometimes see them,
the former patients of dr T,
standing in fields.
Empty eyes.
Empty heads.
Wondering if the world ever will be colorful again.
And if Fuglesang has undies of kevlar
or just plain cotton.

invited Guest: Gerry Johansson

Once again I am proud to present some of Gerry Johansson’s photographs on The F Blog. Below is four pictures from his book Sverige (Sweden, published 2005). Sverige is collection of photographs of Swedish cities and according to me a very fascinating photobook. As I earlier have written Gerry says about his pictures:

I photograph what I find beautiful. It might be a run-down part of the city put up in the seventies, or it may be a romantic landscape view of the countryside. I see my pictures as counterbalancing the images of doom and destruction propagated by the mass media.

Please also look at Gerry Johansson’s other pictures on the blog and also at his own homepage. This serie is also to be continued at The F Blog.

Another autumn

Co2 is not mentioned in the Law.

Well, God save the Law, or maybe not? It is a human thing.

Suing the Federal Govt and the EPA for not implementing any Co2 regulations is probably a good thing.

But the discussion turns into Kafkasque reasoning whether Co2 is "natural" or not??

I think it is good Nature gets a helping hand!

It's a pleasure to invite Markus Jenemark to the F-blog. His picture has always been an inspiration to me. Markus says "In my photographs I try to capture some kind of feeling, whether it´s my own or somebody else´s. I think it´s essential to keep trying to be personal and to let my emotional state show in my pictures. I believe it´s best not to think too much, not to plan a photo in advance, but to be spontaneous and seize the moment. Hopefully my photos speak for themselves, because I have a hard time writing about them!"

See more of his work at his own site and at photopoints!

invited guest: Agnieszka Gomolla

In my pictures I am trying to catch the moments, which pass faster than eye blink. My pictures are closest to my heart seconds, kept longer then burst of light under the eyelid. At least, I hope so….

Usually my pictures are B&W, because this is the simplest way for me to express my thoughts. In black and white – it is easier then to choose the colours to the moments stored in memory…as I wished to remember them.

Normally I photograph people, mostly children. I am fond on play with form and light, but most of all with the framing.
I am showing to you my DREAMS - illustrations to my thoughts and dreams. That what I dreamt and that what I’d like to dream.

Dreams are in colour. Always.

Even the sorrow has it’s colours. Don’t even mention dreams of happiness.
I use different gear. DREAMS were created with use of aged, older then me, MF but very simple camera (Druh – MG). All of my dreams were registered on negatives.

Agnieszka "Dzimella" Gomolla is based in Gliwice (PL) architect, photographer and poetress. She believes in real photography, showing rarely her work in internet. I am grateful she agreed to share her dreams with us. Agnieszka is one of the strongest pillars of photographic group Precel - most active photoclub in Gliwice. More of her works you can find here

From the pond series

In the power of this vision I live

It´s hard to find Gunnar Ekelöf translated into English. He is, in my opinion, one of the greatest Swedish poets of all times. I found something here.
For Christian, who is a great fan of Ekelöf but also for photographer Lasse Mellberg who also loves his poetry.

Emotional photography (1)

Christian divorcing

All of us go through a difficult period from time to time, as life naturally, and sometimes tragically, goes on. In my case, I was going through a divorce, which (then) took me by surprise.
While going through all the emotional roller-coaster stages, I kept photographing, but even more, expressing my feelings through photography. The quality of it varied, but it served an excellent purpose of being my safety valve during this period.
Below is some of the photos that I in hindsight feel meant the most to me. Some good, some ugly, -- simply emotional photos.
I don't wish anyone a crisis in any way, although they sometimes are inevitable. But if you are going through one, try - well really try - to keep on expressing and capturing your feelings throughout the period. I firmly believe it is a strong channel to your feelings.
