These five images are from a project called Waterfronts, taken along the shorelines of the Baltic Sea and northern France. Most of my work in Waterfronts was done in low light situations where there was an interaction between light and darkness, such as at dusk and dawn. I often use long exposure times in order to reduce the landscape into elemental, graphic shapes.

I like the pictures of Mattia Marchi. These Holga shots are quite different from
the "mainstream" Holga pictures in my opinion. Sometimes brutal, realistic but
still beautiful.The two first pictures and the last one were part of
Liljevalchs Spring Salon.

Arkadiusz Gola was born and grew up in very heart of industrial Upper Silesia. Since his early years he was surrounded by specific atmosphere of this land where almost everybody worked for coal mine, cityscapes where formed by coal mine shafts, air crossed by conveyor bridges. He started his photographic life in coal mine Nowy Wirek in Ruda Śląska – when as 12 yo boy went to Photo Club – the mines where not just giving the work for people – mines were giving almost everything to people working there and their families. For generations miners and mines built fascinating world basing on simple values as honor, truth, bravery and respect to others. This is natural that he, as adult photographer wants to talk about this land and its people, especially that this world is passing away day by day. Mines stopped to be “salt of this land”, new economy orders to shut them down and former miners are loosing not just jobs but all of this what for hundreds years was built here by their grandfathers…
Arkadiusz Gola tries to witness and document disappearing world and he makes it following the rules of miners – truth, honor and respect are most important in his documents, I am honored to present piece of his work on F blog.

An "Underground tree" should be treated in the same way as the plant species would naturally.
Hint: When you see a plant in underground - act normally as nothing happens!
Before initiating the process of growing the trees in your underground, tube or even trams, a new solution should be invented, to ensure that the "Plant propagation in communication" is innovative and ready to act in a public space, without the need of every passenger to carry his/her own tree.

TITLE: Farewell to home--emigrants bound for England and America--
on steamer at Göteborg, Sweden

Mr Hepburns picture "Clock" made me think of how over a million people
emigrated from Sweden to America during the last half of the 19th century
and the first decades of the 20th century. Only between 1887-1892 over
250 000 people emigrated from Sweden. They landed in New York and many
moved on westwards.
Sweden had a population of just 4, 8 million in 1890 and most of the
people who left were young, so this was a major historic event.
The photo was taken in an abandoned house in County Mayo, Ireland. The clock is the one that once sat on the mantelpiece before the house was claimed by the sea. There are also many other houses in a state of abandonment that have been deserted by people emigrating to the UK, US and beyond.
